Basketball Recap: McCool Junction Mustangs vs. Nebraska Lutheran Knights

Make it ten blowout wins for the McCool Junction Mustangs this season. They breezed by Nebraska Lutheran at home to the tune of 72-37 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for McCool Junction as they're now sitting on six straight.

McCool Junction's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from McKenna Yates, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Yates has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Bandt, who scored ten points along with four steals.

Despite the loss, Nebraska Lutheran had strong showings from Samantha Hueske, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Marissa Endorf, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.

McCool Junction's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.8 points. As for Nebraska Lutheran, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

McCool Junction will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Mustangs are ranked 48th). As for Nebraska Lutheran, they will be playing at home against the Cardinals on Friday.
