Softball Recap: Lafayette Central Catholic Has No Trouble Against Fountain Central

With a playoff win on the line, Lafayette Central Catholic rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Fountain Central Mustangs with a sharp 8-2 win. The Knights not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 32-7).

Kendyl McCammon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Aubrey Bapst was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lauren Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lafayette Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Lafayette Central Catholic's record now sits at 3-18. As for Fountain Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Lafayette Central Catholic nor Fountain Central have any future games scheduled.
