Volleyball Recap: Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 11, 2021, but that streak is no more.

As for Roanoke Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The game was the first time they have beaten Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy on their court since March 11, 2021.

Roanoke Valley Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Cline, who had six kills and five aces. What's more, Cline racked up 14 assists, the most she's had since back in August. Jordan Beach was another key player, getting 18 digs.

Coming up, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy will challenge Chatham at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, they have already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Ridgeview Christian on the 6th.
