Baseball Recap: Alexandria-Monroe Takes a Loss

Alexandria-Monroe fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Blue River Valley on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Mason Fuller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Alexandria-Monroe has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Blue River Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Coming up, Alexandria-Monroe will face off against Frankton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
