Softball Game Preview: Orthopaedic Vipers vs. Torres Toros

The Orthopaedic Vipers will head out on the road to take on the Torres Toros at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Orthopaedic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Orthopaedic will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Fairfax on Monday. Orthopaedic put the hurt on Fairfax with a sharp 20-7 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Vipers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Natalie Garcia was a standout: she scored four runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Antonio-Mateo, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Orthopaedic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Torres was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Bell, falling 9-3.

Orthopaedic's record is now 2-3. As for Torres, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Orthopaedic might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Torres when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Orthopaedic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
