Preview: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Central Bears

The Weeki Wachee Hornets will be playing at home against the Central Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Weeki Wachee, who comes in off a win.

Weeki Wachee can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Anclote by a score of 20-8. The victory was just what Weeki Wachee needed coming off of a 55-0 defeat in their prior match.

Weeki Wachee can attribute much of their success to Adrian Cabezudo, who picked up 114 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Richard Hanshaw, who threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.

Weeki Wachee's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 4.5 times. Leading the way was Tyler Ciccio and his 2.5 sacks.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-14, which was the final score in Central's tilt against Nature Coast Tech on Friday. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 464th, while Nature Coast Tech is ranked 215th).

Talyn Poole put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 35 yards and two touchdowns.

Weeki Wachee's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Central, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Weeki Wachee came up short against Central when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 26-14. Thankfully for Weeki Wachee, Caden Bergantino (who picked up 139 receiving yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
