Football Recap: Sam Hubbard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bulloch Academy over Frederica Academy + How To Watch

Bulloch Academy dropped down to 6-2 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost to Frederica Academy on the road by a 35-20 margin. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Frederica Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Bulloch Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sam Hubbard, who threw for 115 yards and one TD on only eight passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Danye Garvin handled things on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.

As for Frederica Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 7.12 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.33 in the others.

A big part of Frederica Academy's win came down to the chemistry between Stanton Beverly and his top target Braxton Sykes. Beverly rushed for 90 yards and one score while Sykes picked up 86 receiving yards and one touchdown. Sykes really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 90 yards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bulloch Academy will host St. Andrew's at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th. The Gators will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.71 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Frederica Academy, they will be playing at home against Pinewood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th.
