Basketball Game Preview: Canton Cobras vs. Plymouth Wildcats

Canton has gone 10-0 against Plymouth recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Canton Cobras will venture away from home to challenge the Plymouth Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Canton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Canton beat Salem 67-57. Given the Cobras' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Rocks are ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Teddy Winstel, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 19 points. The matchup was Winstel's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Hurley, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Plymouth hadn't done well against Howell recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Plymouth narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Howell 49-47. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

The victory made it two in a row for Canton and bumps their season record up to 9-7. As for Plymouth, their record is now 7-10.

Canton took their win against Plymouth when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 69-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Canton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
