Soccer Preview: Fauquier vs. Meridian
The Fauquier Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Meridian Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fauquier took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Manassas Park, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fauquier.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Meridian). They blew past Dominion 9-1 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 6-1.
Meridian hit Dominion with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Fletcher Saaty (3), Amin Shams (2), Osteen Espina-Campos (2), and Carlos Valle-Cabrera (2).
Meridian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matchups. As for Fauquier, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3.
