Basketball Game Preview: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Belleview Rattlers

The Weeki Wachee Hornets and the Belleview Rattlers will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Weeki Wachee didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past Angeline Academy of Innovation with a 74-68 victory on Monday.

While Belleview didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Meadowbrook Academy by a score of 56-49 last Monday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rattlers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Mustangs are ranked 484th).

The win made it two in a row for Belleview and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Weeki Wachee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Everything came up roses for Weeki Wachee against Belleview in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured an 86-53 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Rattlers' Alfonzo Johnson III, who posted 25 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Hornets still be able to contain Johnson III? There's only one way to find out.
