Baseball Recap: Segerstrom Comes Up Short

Segerstrom extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 5-8. They came up short against the La Mirada Matadores, falling 11-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Segerstrom saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Macias, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Macias has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

As for La Mirada, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On La Mirada's side, Jeremiah Gomez and Ian Aguayo did most of the damage at the plate: Gomez got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Aguayo went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Aguayo a new career-high. Shane Smith was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

Segerstrom has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against El Modena on the 31st. As for La Mirada, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against San Dimas on the 31st.
