Soquel came out on top against Aptos on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Knights put the hurt on the Mariners with a sharp 9-2 victory. Considering the Knights have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jake Escalante was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Moran, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brady Downs was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Soquel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aptos only posted a batting average of .120.

The win (which was Soquel's fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Aptos, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.
