Meanwhile, NorthWood had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Chargers.
Like New Prairie, NorthWood also got a great game from a two-way player: Connor Reed. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Reed was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mason Bogan and Mason Warren did most of the damage at the plate: Bogan went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Warren got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ryder Ransberger, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
NorthWood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Noble only posted an OBP of .185.
New Prairie's record is now 21-9. As for NorthWood, their record now sits at 19-12.
New Prairie couldn't quite finish off NorthWood when the teams last played back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
