Basketball Game Preview: Alcoa Tornadoes vs. Maryville Red Rebels

The Alcoa Tornadoes will venture away from home to face off against the Maryville Red Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alcoa has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Alcoa saw some tournament action on Friday. They managed a 69-63 victory over Buckhorn. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tornadoes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 68th in Tennessee, while the Bucks are ranked 18th in Alabama).

Meanwhile, Maryville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-57 heartbreaker at the hands of Pope John Paul II.

Maryville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Alcoa, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Alcoa suffered a grim 80-54 defeat to Maryville when the teams last played back in February. Can Alcoa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
