Softball Recap: Stratford Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Stratford barely beat Cypress Falls the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Stratford Spartans put the hurt on the Cypress Falls Eagles with a sharp 18-6 win on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won five matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Marielle Kiersh was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Layla Yslas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Stratford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Falls only posted an OBP of .400.

Stratford's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Cypress Falls, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Stratford will be playing at home against Cypress Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stratford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Cypress Falls, they will venture away from home to face off against Cy-Fair at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
