Basketball Game Preview: Dorsey Dons vs. George Washington Prep Generals

Dorsey is 1-9 against George Washington Prep since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dorsey Dons will be playing at home against the George Washington Prep Generals at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Dorsey is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Crenshaw, posting an 89-52 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Dons as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but George Washington Prep ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 89-86 win over Mayfair. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Generals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Monsoons are ranked 126th).

George Washington Prep is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Dorsey, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Dorsey took a serious blow against George Washington Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 72-29. Can Dorsey avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
