Basketball Game Preview: Caney Valley Bullpups vs. Cherryvale Chargers

The Caney Valley Bullpups will head out to square off against the Cherryvale Chargers on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Caney Valley came up short against Humboldt and fell 56-47.

Meanwhile, Cherryvale entered their tilt with Fredonia on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Yellowjackets 60-28. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 307th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cherryvale pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points over those games. As for Caney Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Caney Valley came up short against Cherryvale in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 54-41. Can Caney Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
