Softball Recap: Waltham Sets Scoring Season-High Against Somerville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waltham). They were the clear victors by a 26-5 margin over the Somerville Highlanders on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Josie Proskoczilo made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Proskoczilo was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Waltham got a massive performance out of Gabriella Destefano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Laila Drouillard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Waltham kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Waltham now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Somerville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Waltham will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Highlanders: the pair will be back at it again later today.
