Preview: Woodson Cavaliers vs. Alexandria City Titans
Woodson has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Alexandria City Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Woodson didn't have too much trouble with Robinson at home as they won 56-39. Given Woodson's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Robinson is ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sean Donovan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Noah Limbago was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Alexandria City strolled past West Springfield with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 63-48. The win made it back-to-back wins for Alexandria City.
Woodson is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Alexandria City, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Woodson came up short against Alexandria City in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 58-50. Can Woodson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
