Basketball Recap: Chester County Comes Up Short

Chester County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the South Gibson Hornets, falling 53-18. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while the Hornets are ranked 19th).

South Gibson was led to victory by Jade Reed and Ivy Cianciolo. Reed went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points and three steals, while Cianciolo posted six points and eight steals. Reed is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Dunn, who had five points and four steals.

Chester County's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for South Gibson, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Chester County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-56 defeat against Riverside on the 10th. As for South Gibson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 35-28 win against Hutchison on the 7th.
