Basketball Recap: Westwood Comes Up Short

Westwood easily dispatched Highland Christian Academy last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Westwood Wildcats fell just short of the Fullington Academy Trojans by a score of 51-48 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since December 21, 2023.

Fullington Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Sangster out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Sangster is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Cutter Tharpe was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Westwood moved to 5-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Fullington Academy, they moved to 7-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Westwood Wildcats duke it out with the Grace Christian Academy Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fullington Academy, they will face off against Highland Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
