Basketball Recap: Highland Tech Takes a Loss

Highland Tech lost against Bessemer City back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Highland Tech Rams had to suffer through a 57-17 loss at the hands of the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets.

Leading Bessemer City to victory were Tionna Pettus and Kionna Pettus. Tionna dropped a triple-double with 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 steals, while Kionna went 6-for-9 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. Tionna's evening made it 21 games in a row in which she has scored at least 27 points.

Highland Tech has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. Bessemer City's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11.

Highland Tech didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-29 win against East Gaston on the 14th. As for Bessemer City, they have also already played their next contest, a 66-29 victory against Cherryville on the 17th.
