Soccer Game Preview: South Sevier vs. Beaver

South Sevier is 1-9 against Beaver since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rams will challenge the Beavers at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Sevier has seven straight victories, Beaver has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

On Tuesday, South Sevier needed a bit of extra time to put away Gunnison Valley. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 1-0. South Sevier's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matchups.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Peyton Gibson, who's now up to 25 this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Beaver's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Juan on Thursday.

South Sevier pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those five games. As for Beaver, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

South Sevier beat Beaver by a goal in their previous meeting back in March, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
