Recap: Live Oak Lions vs. Pierce Bears
The Live Oak Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 18th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 69-38 loss at the hands of Pierce. Live Oak lost against Pierce in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 44-43 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Live Oak saw an underclassman step up: Harjot Kular scored 21 points. That was a full 55.3% of Live Oak's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pierce was led to victory by Drew Burnum and Alfonso Orozco. Burnum scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Orozco scored 16 points along with six assists and three steals. Burnum has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Guynn, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Live Oak dropped their record down to 2-23 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Pierce, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 11-17 record this season.
Live Oak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pierce, they will be playing at home against Winters at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Pierce focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
