Softball Recap: Sequoyah Handles Commerce

The Sequoyah Eagles were able to grind out a solid win over the Commerce Tigers on Thursday, taking the matchup 10-5.

The team relied heavily on Brooklynne Ott, who went a perfect 4-for-4 while logging 5 RBIs, 2 triples, and 2 runs. Ott has been consistently good when it comes to hits: she's had 2+ every time she's taken the field this season. Lexis Breshears was another key player, going 3-for-4 while posting 3 runs, 2 RBIs, and 1 double.

Sequoyah's pitchers kept the bats quiet and finished the game with only four hits allowed. That's the best they've done in that category since at least August 12, 2025.

Sequoyah's record is currently 2-2. As for Commerce, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, dating back to last year. That leaves them at a 3-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoyah will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wyandotte at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st. As for Commerce, they will head out to square off against Fairland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
