Basketball Recap: Fenton Coyle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Union County over Seton Catholic

Union County lost against Seton Catholic back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Union County Patriots fell 60-51 to the Seton Catholic Cardinals.

Union County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fenton Coyle, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points along with seven boards and six assists. The dominant performance gave Coyle a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Watterson, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

Coyle wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Union County was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Seton Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyson Tremain, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Semler, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 18 points and three steals.

Union County's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Seton Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will face off against Franklin County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Seton Catholic, they will square off against Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
