Volleyball Recap: Phelps Falls Despite Big Games from Cloey Bevins and Selena Smith

Phelps was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Prestonsburg Blackcats. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blackcats from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-12, 25-12.

Phelps' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Selena Smith, who had 15 digs and three aces, and Cloey Bevins, who had 17 assists and four digs. Bevins is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season.

Phelps' defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Prestonsburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-10 record this season.

Phelps will face off against Hurley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Prestonsburg has already played their next matchup (against Jenkins), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
