Recap: Monta Vista Matadors vs. Lincoln Lions
The Monta Vista Matadors pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-64 to Lincoln. Monta Vista was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lincoln apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played on December 8th.
Lincoln had a senior duo take command as Mussie Yimer dropped a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds and Caleb Hooks scored 19 points along with six steals. The match was Yimer's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joseph Shelton, who scored 15 points.
Monta Vista has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Monta Vista has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Ann Sobrato at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th. Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against James Lick at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. James Lick comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
