Basketball Recap: William Schafer and Jordan Castor Secure Win for Lincoln North Star

Lincoln North Star won the last time they faced Omaha North and things went their way on Friday too. The Lincoln North Star Navigators strolled past the Omaha North Vikings with points to spare, taking the game 75-61. Given the Navigators' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Vikings are ranked 123rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lincoln North Star was led to victory by Jordan Castor and William Schafer. Castor posted 20 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds, while Schafer went 5 for 10 en route to 16 points and three steals. Schafer continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rieal Acin, who put up ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Omaha North lost, don't look at Jerri'On Williams. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 13 on his way to 22 points along with six boards and three steals. That was a full 36.1% of Omaha North's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ban Yor, who scored 15 points and six rebounds.

Lincoln North Star has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Omaha North, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln North Star will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Omaha Central at 7:15 p.m. on February 4th. Lincoln North Star will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Omaha North is facing Omaha Northwest at the right time seeing as Omaha Northwest is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
