Baseball Recap: Melba Gets the Win

While Melba's victory against Wendell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Trojans on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since March 28th.

Cooper Brooks was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Melba's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 4-1 (and 8-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Gerritt Wiersma, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Melba's win bumped their record up to 12-15. As for Wendell, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-16-1.

As of now, neither Melba nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
