Basketball Recap: Mosinee Comes Up Short

Mosinee easily dispatched Rhinelander last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Mosinee Indians fell just short of the Lakeland Thunderbirds by a score of 49-46 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost seven in a row.

Kristina Ouimette was her usual excellent self, going 10 of 20 en route to 28 points in addition to six assists and five boards for Lakeland. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Ouimette has scored at least a third of Lakeland's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Saylor Timmerman, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.

Mosinee's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Lakeland, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Mosinee has already played their next contest (against Neillsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lakeland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-32 win against Medford on the 24th.
