Basketball Game Preview: Father Lopez Green Wave vs. DeLand Bulldogs

The Father Lopez Green Wave will head out on the road to face off against the DeLand Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Father Lopez will be strutting in after a win while DeLand will be coming in after a defeat.

Father Lopez is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since January 29, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Orangewood Christian 51-48.

Meanwhile, DeLand lost to Gaston Christian at home by a 66-48 margin on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 144th in Florida, while the Eagles are ranked 18th in North Carolina).

Father Lopez's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. As for DeLand, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Father Lopez might still be hurting after the 63-43 defeat they got from DeLand when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Father Lopez avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
