Softball Recap: Perry Yellowjackets vs. Avon Braves
Perry had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-8 to make it nine. They lost 19-1 to the Avon Braves. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 8-3 to the Braves when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Avon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Avon, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Avon's part, Jessie Crye made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Crye has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.
