Basketball Recap: Hardaway Hawks vs. Westover Patriots

In what's become a running theme this season, the Hardaway Hawks gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Westover as Hardaway made off with a 69-44 victory. Hardaway is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 16 straight.

Hardaway's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Akilah Shelton, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Shelton continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenaiya Hardy, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Westover had strong showings from Sydney Donaldson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Jada Landers, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Kaiya Conway was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three blocks.

Hardaway pushed their record up to 19-4 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.1 points. As for Westover, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

Hardaway will be playing at home against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shaw will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Hawks are ranked 39th). As for Westover, they will head out on the road to challenge the Syrupmakers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cairo has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
