Football Recap: David Crockett Takes a Loss

David Crockett extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-6. They had to suffer through a 56-28 loss at the hands of the Cherokee Chiefs. Despite 199 more yards than the Chiefs, the Pioneers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

David Crockett's loss came despite strong showings from Sam Casey and Aj Wynn. Casey rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, while Wynn rushed for 76 yards and three scores. The Pioneers are 2-1 when Casey posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-5 otherwise.

As for Cherokee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their seven-point performance the matchup before.

Jayden Weston had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 144 yards and one TD while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.

David Crockett has already played their next contest, a 24-7 win against Daniel Boone on the 24th. As for Cherokee, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 55-33 victory against Volunteer on the 24th.
