Baseball Recap: Winchendon Comes Up Short

Putnam Science Academy hit Winchendon with a five-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wapiti fell 9-6 to Putnam Science Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Wapiti in their meetings with Putnam Science Academy: they've now lost four in a row.

Sam Connors made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Ruggiero, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Winchendon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Putnam Science Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Coming up, Winchendon will square off against Lawrence Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Putnam Science Academy, they will welcome Salisbury School at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
