Basketball Recap: Kate Finnegan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cedar Ridge over Uwharrie Charter Academy + How To Watch

Cedar Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles, falling 62-41. The Fighting Red Wolves were down 54-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Cedar Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kate Finnegan, who posted six points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedi Fearrington, who put up eight points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Uwharrie Charter Academy can attribute much of their success to Lainey Thomas, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals. That's the most steals Thomas has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Staples, who had 12 points and four steals.

Cedar Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Cedar Ridge has already played their next matchup, a 44-33 defeat against Northern Durham on the 20th. As for Uwharrie Charter Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-27 victory against Union Academy on the 19th.
