Football Game Preview: Juab Wasps vs. Richfield Wildcats

The Juab Wasps will head out on the road to square off against the Richfield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Richfield will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Juab extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Wasps took their contest with ease, bagging a 39-10 victory over Canyon View. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-3.

Jaden Heap had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 94 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 73 yards and one TD.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Payton Myers, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Richfield's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 49-41 to Cedar. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (40), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Richfield's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Juab, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Juab came up short against Richfield in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 24-13. Thankfully for the Wasps, Griffin Wayman (who threw for 135 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 56 yards and one score) won't be suiting up this time.
