Basketball Recap: Troup County Comes Up Short

Troup County lost against Sandy Creek back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Troup County Tigers took an 83-65 bruising from the Sandy Creek Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Patriots are ranked 19th).

When it comes to explaining why Troup County lost, don't look at Gavyn Gates. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 16 on his way to 20 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jalen Brown, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Troup County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Sandy Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.

Troup County has already played their next match, a 65-57 win against Spalding on the 6th. As for Sandy Creek, they will host Mary Persons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sandy Creek is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
