Baseball Recap: Bishop Shanahan's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Bishop Shanahan's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Downingtown East Cougars 9-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Cole Simmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bishop Shanahan is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brett Barber, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Michael Cleary, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bishop Shanahan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Bishop Shanahan back to even at 8-8. As for Downingtown East, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-8.
