Softball Game Preview: Garrett Railroaders vs. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights

The Garrett Railroaders will take on the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Fort Wayne Bishop Luers took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Garrett, who comes in off a win.

Garrett will bounce into Monday's game after beating East Noble, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Railroaders had just enough and edged out the Knights 6-5 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Railroaders have posted since April 26, 2024.

Garrett got a massive performance out of Atalie Gullett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave Gullett a new career-high. Peyton Grindstaff was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They came up short against Heritage, falling 21-2.

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Dennis, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was Dennis' first of the season.

The victory got Garrett back to even at 1-1. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
