Baseball Recap: Monterey Makes It Three in a Row at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Monterey had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Harbor Pirates by a score of 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Dores in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won five in a row.

Luke Miramontes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Monterey: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Monterey's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gino Grammatico, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Grammatico has posted since back in May of 2024. Evan Takehara was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Monterey pushed their record up to 12-17 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Harbor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Monterey nor Harbor have any future games scheduled.
