Volleyball Game Preview: Grantsburg Pirates vs. Elk Mound Mounders

The Grantsburg Pirates will face off against the Elk Mound Mounders at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Grantsburg sitting on nine straight wins and Elk Mound on three.

Grantsburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Amery as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

Grantsburg walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 25-15.

Grantsburg found their leader in freshman Eden Burkman, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Grantsburg was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Elk Mound got the win against Arcadia on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0.

Elk Mound was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-21.

Grantsburg's victory bumped their record up to 27-6. As for Elk Mound, they now have a winning record of 18-17.

Grantsburg beat Elk Mound 2-0 in their previous matchup back in August of 2021. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mounders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
