Baseball Recap: Torres Beats Elizabeth for Their Eighth Straight Win

Torres came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Elizabeth Bulldogs as they made off with a 13-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 last Friday.

Josecruz Ramos and Angel Tostado made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ramos pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Tostado struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ramos scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Tostado scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jouse Solis Rojas, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Abraham Ramos was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Torres was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Torres pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Elizabeth, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
