Softball Recap: Gardena Panthers vs. San Pedro Pirates

Gardena had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it 12. They came up short against the San Pedro Pirates, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 back in April.

As for San Pedro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games.

For San Pedro's part, Maya Sindicich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Sindicich has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Brianna Rodela was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Dahlia Davila, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.
