Softball Game Preview: Astoria/VIT Rebels vs. Delavan Panthers

The Astoria/VIT Rebels will challenge the Delavan Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Astoria/VIT has given up an average of 16.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Astoria/VIT headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for six straight, but West Prairie let them put that streak behind them. The Rebels won by a run and slipped past the Cyclones 12-11. The Rebels' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Delavan was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Athens.

Delavan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Lowers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. That run was Lowers' first of the season. Addi Fisher was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Delavan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Astoria/VIT, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
