Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends John Paul II's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but John Paul II unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 50-38 to the Northwood Academy Chargers. The Golden Warrriors were probably out for revenge after losing 62-35 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, John Paul II saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lauren Majorkiewicz posted 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Majorkiewicz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Termini, who had six points.

John Paul II's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2. As for Northwood Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. John Paul II will welcome Laurence Manning Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwood Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Porter-Gaud at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
