Basketball Game Preview: St. Patrick Saints vs. Villa Madonna Vikings

The St. Patrick Saints will challenge the Villa Madonna Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for St. Patrick and four for Villa Madonna.

Last Friday, St. Patrick had to suffer through a 79-46 loss at the hands of Bracken County.

Meanwhile, Villa Madonna ended up a good deal behind Holmes on Monday and lost 61-46.

St. Patrick will have to keep a close watch on Quinn Thomas and Zach Webb, a pair of players who had a big impact on Villa Madonna's prior game. Thomas went 6 of 11 on his way to 12 points and three steals, while Webb went 5 for 7 en route to 12 points. What's more, Thomas also posted a 55% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Michael J Popham was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Villa Madonna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

St. Patrick's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Villa Madonna, their loss dropped their record down to 4-20.

St. Patrick was dealt a bruising 77-33 defeat at the hands of Villa Madonna when the teams last played back in February of 2024.
