Softball Recap: Sammamish Takes a Loss

Sammamish had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 8-8 to make it four. They lost 12-0 to the Interlake Saints. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Totems' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Interlake, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5. The game was the first time they have beaten Sammamish on their field since April 29, 2019.

For Interlake's part, Albany Aponte (2027) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Aponte (2027) has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Indigo Joseph (2028), who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Vedika Jagtap (2026) was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Sammamish will square off against Newport - Bellevue at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Interlake, they will face off against Cedarcrest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will need to watch out since the Red Wolves have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
