After a string of six wins, Walnut Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Melissa Cardinals.

Walnut Grove's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 15-6. As for Melissa, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 21-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut Grove will challenge Denison at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Walnut Grove's pitchers better be ready for this one: Denison has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Melissa, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Melissa Cardinals duke it out with Greenville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. They are facing Greenville at the right time seeing as Greenville is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
